Silicon-based materials are ideally suited to meet the needs of the LED
(light emitting diode) industry as they provide high adhesion, high purity,
moisture resistance, and thermal stability, and retain optical clarity at
elevated temperatures relative to organic materials.
To utilize all of the attributes of LEDs, lighting systems should be
designed with the capabilities to maximize the benefits of LED lighting,
optimized around the lighting profile of an LED source, and suitable for new
construction.
Use of LEDs in lamps and lighting systems frequently requires materials that
